Hand-knotted Bukhara runner from Pakistan

This handwoven Oriental rug originates from Pakistan and is executed in the classic Bukhara design. The design follows a strictly axial composition, as is typical for traditional Bukhara runners, and is characterized by a clear, rhythmic organization of the field.

The central field is rendered in a deep red shade and shows a vertical sequence of large, octagonal Gül-Medaillons, evenly distributed along the entire length. The medallions are richly structured and accompanied by fine geometric secondary motifs, which give the carpet depth and visual tension. Small star- and diamond-shaped elements fill the gaps and create a dense, cohesive overall appearance.

The surrounding border is multi-layered and echoes the geometric vocabulary of the main field. Contrasting patterns in dark brown, black, and warm orange tones clearly frame the central field and underscore the traditional character of this Bukhara runner.
