Gold Crystals on matrix - Height: 4.5 cm - Width: 3.5 cm- 60 g

A really attractive piece of crystalline/crystallized "spongy" gold in quartz from the famous and historic Grass Valley district in California. I’m not sure this piece comes from the 16-to-1 mine, so I’ll just leave it as Grass Valley. This is older material, dating to the early 1980s, and it features conspicuous shiny metallic veining of attractive native gold mixed into a quartz matrix with minor sulfides (sphalerite or tetrahedrite?) or perhaps hessite. It also has some heft, so one can tell there’s more gold than what’s visible on the surface.
