Description from the seller
The book is a comprehensive, richly illustrated monograph on the Italian artist Mimmo Rotella (1918–2006), curated and textually accompanied by the renowned art historian Germano Celant. It offers a thorough overview of Rotella’s artistic work from the post-World War II beginnings to his latest pieces. Celant traces the artist’s development—from his early geometric and abstract experiments to the groundbreaking décollage works (in which Rotella detached posters from urban space and transformed them into art)—up to more complex techniques such as artypos, overpainted canvases, and other visual inventions. The book not only addresses Rotella’s aesthetic strategies and material innovations but also his position in the international art scene—including exhibitions, critical reception, and historical contexts. Richly illustrated with hundreds of color and black-and-white images, the volume documents not only works but also the processes of making, the groups of works, and the development of one of the most influential Italian artists of the postwar period."
Condition of the book:
The specimen is well preserved. It shows the usual signs of wear due to age and storage, but overall it is a clean and solid specimen.
