Description from the seller
Charles Schneider (1881–1953)
Very rare "Bijou" Vase, c. 1920–1922
Blown and powdered glass with applied coloration
Height: 13 cm
Signed: engraved “Schneider” with torch emblem
Perfect condition
A small Bijou vase of characteristic bulbous form with a slender, elongated neck rising to a wide, splayed rim.
The body exhibits Schneider’s distinctive early Art Deco powdering technique in warm amber and cream tones, with subtle internal marbling that creates depth and translucency.
The rim is executed in softly mottled brown-violet glass, providing a harmonious contrast.
Published in Charles Schneider – French Art Deco Glass by Tiny Esveld and Marie-Christine Joulin (p. 41), illustrating the artist’s refined work from the early 1920s.
The vase bears the engraved signature “Schneider” accompanied by the double-torch emblem, used on small Bijou pieces of this period.
