Festival Icon Wielopolowa

What does it depict:
– a typical hagiographic / festive icon with a central scene and small compartments around (the so-called kлейма).
– narrative style, elongated figures, warm ochre, browns, muted gold.

Dating
late 18th – early 19th century
Most likely around 1800–1830.

Country / region:
Russia (the Russian Empire)
Possible region: Central Russia / Volga / Northern Russia

The icon was purchased more than 30 years ago at the Dominican Fair in Poland. Since then it has been kept in a cupboard.
