Kashmiri Prayers is an illuminated two-page bi-folio manuscript from Kashmir, dated 1868, in Arabic as the original language, with black nashki and red Ta'liq script and gold-framed marginal commentary, in very good condition, 21 cm high by 13 cm wide.
Description from the seller
An illuminated bi-folio manuscript from the remnants of a Kashmiri Prayer Book scribed in 1868 in a most unusual layout. it consists of scripture in black and red text respectively, which are of two distinctive types: nashki (black) and elegant Ta'liq (red). There is further commentary in the margins within gold framed clouds.
The left folio back scripture translates thus:
"You will find me in your prostration when you call, and when you rise, seek me with earnestness. You will find me merciful, providing for all creation, so seek me, you. will find me".
The right folio black scripture translates thus:
"I am more merciful to my servant than his brother and his parents, so ask of me, you will find me. You will find me in the darkness of night, my servant, close to you, so ask of me, you will find me".
This is a very meaningful and easy to read manuscript that would grace any home.
