Description from the seller
Ancient Bronze Ring - Medieval Crusader Period (circa 12th–13th century)
An evocative ancient bronze ring, attributed to the Medieval Crusader period, distinguished by its robust form, engraved geometric decoration, and beautifully preserved original surface patina.
The ring features a rectangular bezel engraved with a simple yet powerful linear motif, likely symbolic rather than purely decorative. Both shoulders display matching engraved patterns, a notable and intentional design element that demonstrates balanced craftsmanship and reinforces the ring’s authenticity and period character. Additional photographs will clearly illustrate this symmetrical shoulder engraving.
The surface retains a natural sand patina with light earthen deposits, untouched and uncleaned, providing strong visual evidence of age and burial history. This patination is highly desirable among collectors, as it preserves the ring’s archaeological integrity and historical identity.
Such rings were commonly worn by Crusaders, pilgrims, or individuals living in Crusader-controlled territories, particularly in the Eastern Mediterranean. Rings of this type often served as personal talismans, identifiers, or symbols of status and faith.
