Description from the seller
Stool / Statuette - Pygmies - Tikar - Cameroon
A very beautiful and rare pygmy statuette, usually used as a stool for its very flat surface. Carved from a piece of hard, well-patinated wood.
The pygmies are the first inhabitants of the Cameroonian forest. They constitute an illiterate, primitive minority and are totally marginalized, both socially, economically, and politically. They are people of short stature mainly due to their diet, environmental conditions, and the climate. They master the forest and live mainly from hunting and gathering.
Height - 18
Width - 13
