Thor (runic: þonar ᚦᛟᚾᚨᚱ), in Old High German and Frisian Tonger[source?], in Continental Germanic mythology Donar or Thonar, in Old Norse Þórr, in Old Saxon Thunaer or Thunar is the god of thunder in Norse and Germanic mythology. All these names ultimately derive from the Proto-Germanic theonym *Þun(a)raz: 'thunder'. He is a son of Wodan and the earth goddess Fjorgyn.
