Hand-knotted Oriental rug in Sarough-Mir design

This hand-knotted runner displays a classic Sarough-Mir design, realized in Indian weaving tradition. The pattern follows a strictly rhythmic repetition of small Mir motifs, as is typical for this traditional design.

The elongated central field is rendered in a light, cream-colored base tone and is completely covered with finely crafted, regularly arranged Mir ornaments. The darker brown and beige tones of the motifs create a calm, elegant contrast and give the rug depth without appearing intrusive. The uniform structure ensures a very harmonious overall impression.

The surrounding border is narrow, yet clearly defined, crafted with stylized floral motifs and subtly geometric elements. It frames the field precisely and emphasizes the rug’s classic character. Thanks to the restrained color palette, the runner appears timeless and versatile in its use.
