Description from the seller
A rare opportunity to get this book.
Well preserved from my collection.
Baby Sumo from 2009
This Newton's Little Sumo photo book is the first edition in this format. Little Sumo contains 394 photos and weighs 5.6 kg. The dimensions are 38 x 27 x 6 cm.
The Helmut Newton SUMO was in every respect a gigantic book: it broke records for weight, dimensions, and resale price. Weighing 35.4 kilograms, TASCHEN and Helmut Newton created a groundbreaking book that, in terms of conceptual extravagance as well as technical specifications, surpassed anything attempted so far. In a print run of 10,000 signed and numbered copies, the SUMO sold out shortly after publication and quickly doubled in value. Copies are now in numerous important collections around the world, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The book has been carefully revised by June Newton and remains a spectacular tribute to the most influential, fascinating and controversial photographer of the 20th century, with hundreds of refined images, ranging from breathtaking fashion photography to glossy nudes, provocative art directions, and portraits of celebrities.
