Description from the seller

This is a wooden dressing table vanity / toilet mirror, with:
• Beveled octagonal mirror
• Two cropped side columns
• Base with drawer (wooden pull)
• Typical construction from the late 19th century / early 20th century
• Wood is probably walnut or chestnut (darkened by old varnish)

It is a functional and decorative piece, very common in bourgeois bedrooms of that period.

Measurements (as shown by the visible measuring tapes)

The readings aren’t millimetre-precise, but they’re reliable enough for the catalog/sales:
• Total height: ~ 42–43 cm
• Base width: ~ 30 cm
• Depth of the base: ~ 16–17 cm
Drawer height: ~ 7–8 cm
• Mirror (maximum diameter of the octagon): ~ 18–20 cm

For Catawiki or auctions, these measurements are perfectly acceptable (you can indicate “approx.”).

Condition

Overall good, with normal signs of aging:
Small wear on the edges.
Flaw visible at a joint in the base (cosmetic).
Mirror with faint spots typical of old tarnish.
Structurally solid drawer

Nothing that compromises use or value—keep the original patina, which is positive.

Seller's Story

I am passionate about art, antiques, and decorative objects with historical and aesthetic value. I carefully select unique pieces for auction, prioritizing those that stand out for their originality, quality, and history. I have a special affinity for antique mirrors inspired by the work of Alphonse Mucha, acquired from private collections and antique shops in Portugal and France. I also place great importance on pieces made of carved wood, especially in gilded relief, which represent the refinement and craftsmanship of classical decorative arts.
