Set of 11 issues of the automotive magazine Automobilia, covering August–September 1938 to July 1939, original/officiel, in very good condition.
Description from the seller
I am offering 11 issues of the magazine 'Automobilia', from issue 416 (August–September 1938) to issue 426 (July 1938).
The magazine "Automobilia" appeared on February 1, 1917 under the name "L'automobile aux armées" which it kept until issue 39 of Christmas 1918, to become "Automobilia" from No. 40 of January 15, 1919, biweekly; it became monthly in 1931 and experienced at the beginning of World War II a sporadic publication, before resuming a monthly schedule from 1941, until the last issue published in 1956.
In 1957, it was taken over by the magazine “Moteurs,” as well as its major competitor “La Vie Automobile” (1903-1956), whose last issue was December 1956.
The eleven issues constitute a complete collection from August-September 1938 to July 1939, all of which are issues for the 1939 model year, including, of course, the 1938 Salon special issue.
There are many tests of Chenard & Walker, Matford, Peugeot, Renault, La Licorne, Amilcar, Delahaye, Hotchkiss, Salmson, Simca, Talbot and many others.
The Brussels, Berlin, and New York salons are also covered, as well as the Grand Prix races of 1938 and 1939.
Advertisements, often superb, are very numerous.
The August–September 1938 issue reports the release of the new KDF (Kraft Durch Freude, 'Strength Through Joy'), developed by Professor Ferdinand Porsche, which would be known in France after the war as the Beetle.
The last issue before the war will be No. 427, August–September 1939.
The magazine reappeared with issue No. 428 of February under the name L'Automobile aux armées, continuing through issue No. 432 in June 1940, during the Phoney War, and resumed its monthly cadence with issue No. 433 in August 1941 until its disappearance in December 1956.
