Description from the seller
New with film - Fruit of a long work of cataloging, archiving, and documentation of the authenticity of the works created by Marcello Morandini from 1964 to 2018, the Catalogo ragionato constitutes the Fondazione Marcello Morandini's first editorial project, established in 2016 by the artist himself and thanks to the generous contribution of two major collectors, whose dream was to see realized an open, accessible, and inclusive exhibition space in which his works could be enhanced. For completeness and scientific rigor, the Catalogo ragionato unequivocally traces the artistic path of Marcello Morandini, becoming an essential and up-to-date tool for knowledge of his work. The volume opens with a critical text by curator Marco Meneguzzo and an essay by Serge Lemoine, French art historian who has always followed Morandini's artistic journey, and includes a critical anthology of texts that accompanied the many exhibitions in which the artist presented his research and studies on movement in space – torsion, tension, expansion, overlay – translated into the world of geometry through the use of a bidimensional and tridimensional language, with the certainty of mathematics. The section dedicated to cataloging is the heart of the volume and presents each work through photographic documentation and a technical and bibliographic-exhibition sheet. The curatorial choice has opted for a division of the corpus into decades, within which are listed, in chronological order, works, drawings, multiples and projects. The succession of decades is marked by an introductory text by Morandini himself and by large-format images that reproduce selected works. They narrate his world of forms, which range from graphics to sculpture, from architecture to design, in an absolutely original, coherent, and recognizable way. Completing this section is the updated set of apparatus with biography, list of exhibitions and bibliography. Marco Meneguzzo, a professor at the Brera Academy for over thirty years, art critic and curator of exhibitions, has published books and monographs on modern and contemporary art.
