Junghans Wall Clock
Germany, ca. 1920–1930
A solid and well-preserved Junghans wall clock dating from approximately 1920–1930, from a private collection. The clock has been carefully kept and remains in very good original condition.
The case is compact yet well proportioned, suitable for display on a wall, shelf, or sideboard. Its restrained and functional design reflects the clear, no-nonsense aesthetic of mid-20th-century German clockmaking. The surface finish is clean and well preserved, with no damage or visible repairs.
The clock features a large metal dial measuring 26 cm (10.2 inches) in diameter, which is unusually generous for this type and period. The numerals are clear and easy to read, giving the clock a strong visual presence.
Inside is a mechanical movement with a double-strike wire gong, producing a clear and pleasant sound. The clock strikes the hours and half-hours. The movement runs reliably and demonstrates the robust construction for which Junghans clocks are well known.
Due to its size and weight, this clock should be regarded not only as a functional timepiece but also as a decorative and collector’s object.
