Superb antique box in gilded bronze – Medieval scene with knights playing dice – Late 19th century

Magnificent antique decorative box in gilded bronze, of remarkable artistic quality, richly adorned with a figurative medieval scene depicting two knights playing dice.
The lid is sculpted with great finesse: the figures are rendered with a high level of detail, notably in the armor, faces, and textures (chainmail, fabrics). The composition is lively, expressive and perfectly balanced.
The sides of the box are decorated with finely carved putti holding a shield, framed by architectural and botanical motifs, typical of the Neo-Renaissance historicist style of the late 19th century.
The gilding is well preserved and displays a beautiful antique patina, uniform and elegant.
