Mesopotamian stone cylinder seal dating to the 2nd millennium BCE, featuring stylised long-necked birds with spread wings, with a length of 2.2 cm and diameter of 1.1 cm, in good condition and accompanied by a polymer impression, acquired in 2024 from the UK gallery market and previously catalogued in the UK in 1990.

Babylonian cylinder seal
Large white stone cylinder seal dating from the second millennium BCE.
The seal features a design of stylized long-necked birds with their wings spread.
The first has its head held high, topped by a crest, while the other lowers its long beak.
Length 2.2 cm - diameter 1.1 cm
From a significant collection of 13 Near Eastern cylinder seals dating from the Jemdet Nasr period to the Neo-Assyrian period – approximately 2900–800 BCE.
Previously in a collection formed around the British and international art market in the 1990s.
Expertised by Alessandro Neri, Chimera Heritage Consultants, Italy
Excellent condition - delivered with a polymer imprint.
