The Lamborghini Miura P400, presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966, is universally recognized as the first true supercar in history. Designed by a team of young talents such as Gian Paolo Dallara and Paolo Stanzani, it owes its immortal silhouette to the genius of Marcello Gandini for Bertone’s coachwork.
Main Features
Engine: a 3.9-liter V12 mounted transversely in a mid-engine configuration, a revolutionary technical solution for its time.
Performance: It delivered 350 hp, enabling a claimed top speed of 280 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in about 6.7 seconds.
Design: Renowned for the iconic "eyelashes" on the retractable front headlights and for a height of just 105 cm.
Production: Between 1966 and 1969 only 275 units were produced.
Evolution and Value
The original P400 model was followed by the S versions (370 HP) and the SV (385 HP), the latter lacking the famous eyelids on the headlights. Today, a Miura P400 is an extremely precious collectible: Classic.com data indicate an average value of around $1.7 million, with peaks surpassing $2.3 million for specimens in exceptional condition.
