Description from the seller

Ancient Burmese / Pyu city-states agate bead talisman – ca. 200–1000 CE – Provenance: Zelnik Collection

Authentic agate bead talismans originating from the ancient Burmese cultures and the Pyu states, one of the earliest civilizations of Southeast Asia. Such beads were traditionally worn as protective amulets and also served as status symbols within trade networks that extended over large parts of Asia.

The beads display attractive, old grinding and cutting workmanship and feature irregular, handmade perforations—clear hallmarks of early production. The visible patina and signs of wear emphasize their age and authenticity.
