COLLECTION MASSIVE SILVER BOXES 19th – 20th century:
including France, the Netherlands, Italy
Total silver weight (excluding numbers 7-8-10): 346 g.
(the numbers refer to the numbers on image three)
The unmarked (unapproved) boxes were tested with a touchstone and JSP-silver tester.
1. Heavy round bonbonnière, diameter 10 cm, 222 g, fineness 925/1000, perfect condition. Paris, between 1905-1925, goldsmith: Limousin & Souche (mark LXS).
2. Silver pill box, 5 cm, 22.86 g, fineness 833/1000, perfect condition. Schoonhoven (Netherlands), 1852, silversmith: C. van Dam Kooiman ?
3. Silver pill box, 4.5 cm, 24.81 g, fineness 833/1000, perfect condition. Schoonhoven (Netherlands), 1849, silversmith Jacob Kooiman?
4. Silver pill box in filigree, 3 cm, 11.26 g, silver content not known, perfect condition. Netherlands ?, 19th century? Marked with a left-facing lion head.
5. Silver pill box, 3 cm, 16.73 g, 925/1000, perfect condition. London, 1932-1933, Adolph Barsach Davis jeweller.
6. Louis XVI-style silver pill box, 6 cm, 36.57 g, fineness 800/1000, perfect condition. Germany ca. 1900.
7. Heavy and luxurious silver box with inset horn lid plate, 4.5 cm, 46.66 g (gross), fineness 925/1000, perfect condition. Italy?, 20th century. Marked 925 and 23ZFi (unclear) in an oval.
8. Silver powder box with mirror, 3.5 cm, 26.14 g (gross), good condition. Far East ? Unmarked.
9. Silver pill box in Rococo style, 3.5 cm, 12.07 g, decent condition (small vertical crack under the hinge). Unmarked.
10. Silver powder box with mirror, 3.5 cm, 20.37 g (gross), lock damaged. Unmarked.
Some boxes are gilded on the inside: nos. 5-6-7 & 9.
