Peter Paul Rubens, also Pietro Pauolo Rubens and Pieter Pauwel Rubens or Latinized Petrus Paulus Rubens, (born 28 June 1577 in Siegen; died 30 May 1640 in Antwerp) was a Flemish painter, draftsman, decorator, diplomat and art collector. Rubens is regarded as one of the most significant artists of the Baroque and was recognized in both artistic and political circles of European stature. His work comprises over 10,000 paintings, drawings and designs. His paintings hang in the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna.
