Description from the seller
Dive into the nostalgia of the 1980s with this beautiful HEMA 44K portable typewriter – a true Dutch classic, based on the reliable and iconic Olivetti Lettera 92.
This unit is in excellent, almost new condition and types perfectly, as demonstrated by the included test text: "This HEMA 44K typewriter works perfectly, is like new."
Highlights:
Brand-new black/red ink ribbon installed: crisp, full prints without smudges or streaks.
Fully functional: all keys respond smoothly, including the tab key and margins.
Compact and portable with an original cream-colored case (with handle and locks) – ideal for on the go or as retro decoration.
QWERTY keyboard with 44 keys and a distinctive red accent key.
Plastic housing in beige/cream, typical of the iconic 1970s design. Case size 37x36x13 cm. Weight 5.25 kilograms.
Perfect for writers who seek the authentic typewriter experience (no distractions, pure focus!), collectors of vintage office supplies, or as a unique gift. No scratches, rust, or wear—and ready to use right away! Ink ribbons are still readily available.
HEMA, the Dutch retail chain, sold this portable typewriter under its own name as the HEMA 44K (44 keys) in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
It is technically identical to the Olivetti Lettera 92, a model from the late 1980s designed by Mario Bellini.
Olivetti produced the original model, and HEMA simply imported it and slapped on its own badge for the Dutch market—a common practice with house brands (just as V&D did with other typewriters).
