Decorative pair of bronze doré and white marble cassolettes in Napoleon III antique style, circa 1900, each 31.5 x 13.5 x 10 cm, total weight 4.4 kg, with gilded bronze mounts and marble bodies, in good condition with age wear.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Stunning pair of decorative cassolettes in gilded bronze and white marble.

These ornamental urns exhibit a very fine quality of workmanship. The central body in polished white marble is mounted in a rich gilt bronze mounting finely chiseled: scroll handles decorated with acanthus leaves, mascaron plaques, a gadrooned frieze, and a turned pedestal.
The lids are integral with the urns (not removable), topped by a spinning-top-shaped knob, also in gilded bronze.

Each cassolette rests on a stepped white marble plinth fitted with four turned bronze feet. The ensemble corresponds to elements of fireplace fittings, very fashionable in bourgeois interiors at the end of the 19th century.

Beautiful antique decorative object, ideal for a fireplace, console, or library, bringing a classic and elegant touch to an interior.

Good overall condition for its age, gilding well preserved with a lovely antique patina.
Marble with no cracks or visible restorations, only light signs of wear and micro-marks of aging on the edges, normal for objects over 120 years old. See the photos; they are part of the description.
