Pair of decorative wall panels dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, with brass frames and hand-painted porcelain plaques featuring feminine portraits in a historicist style.
Description from the seller
Pair of decorative brass and hand-painted porcelain panels – Female portraits – Late 19th / early 20th century
Elegant pair of wall-mounted decorative panels, consisting of richly ornate brass frames housing central porcelain plaques hand-painted. The feminine portraits, treated with great finesse, show historical inspiration recalling the Renaissance, with particularly careful work on faces, complexions and drapery. The painting quality attests to high-level artisanal craftsmanship.
The brass frames, finely decorated with botanical motifs and volutes, provide a strong and refined decorative presence. The porcelain plaques bear an incised mark with the letter “B,” corresponding to a European workshop, without precise attribution.
The patina is old and uniform. The whole is in very good condition, with only light signs of wear consistent with age.
An elegant decorative set, ideal for a classic interior, a cabinet of curiosities, or a collection of European porcelain.
