Important large ornamental cup in bronze and marble – 19th century
Magnificent and elegant 19th-century ornamental cup, made of patinated bronze and marble, of exceptional workmanship and remarkable visual impact.
The cup features a richly modeled body with refined relief decoration of vegetal tendrils and leaves, finely chased and developed with a fluid and natural flow, typical of the finest decorative production with late nineteenth-century taste. On the upper edge stand two winged putti in bronze, sculpted with great plastic sensibility and anatomical attention, caught in a contemplative attitude, an element of strong symbolic and compositional elegance.
The bronze casting is of excellent quality, with a warm, deep patina that enhances the volumes and details, giving the whole a noble and authentic appearance. It rests on a solid marble base, turned and proportioned, which provides vertical elevation and stability, creating a refined material contrast with the metal.
The ensemble is harmonious, imposing, and in perfect formal balance, conceived as a decorative piece for display, ideal for distinguished interiors, period interiors, decorative-arts collections, or as a central element on a console, columns, or a coffee table.
