Bang & Olufsen - Beolab 8000 pair Speaker set

The BeoLab 8000 are Bang & Olufsen two-way active floor-standing speakers, an icon of the brand thanks to David Lewis’s organ-pipe design and to their very slender form, conceived to take up little visual space in a room.

Design and construction
• Floor-standing active speaker, extruded aluminum frame with pedestal and front fabric covers that are interchangeable.
• Tall and slim (about 132 cm in height, base 15–17 cm side, weight around 22 kg per cabinet), easy to integrate even in tight spaces.

Shipping may occur with the base disassembled to facilitate delivery integrity.

Audio configuration
• 2-way system with 3 drivers: two approx. 4″ woofers/midwoofers on the front and a tweeter mounted near the top of the cabinet.
• Frequency response roughly from 50–55 Hz up to 20 kHz, with proprietary Adaptive Bass Linearisation (ABL) circuit that extends the lows while protecting the drivers.
• Each cabinet houses dedicated amplification (class AB) for high, controlled sound pressure relative to size.

Connections and use
• Power Link input for direct connection to Bang & Olufsen sources/amplifiers (Beosound, Beovision, etc.), with an L/R switch under the base.
• Line input (phono/RCA) for connection to non-B&O electronics, via adapter or dedicated cabling, setting the switch to LINE.
• Automatic power-on in the presence of a signal, LED changing from red (standby) to green (active).

Historical context and typical use
• Introduced in 1992, they are among the first fully active BeoLab column loudspeakers, often paired with Beosound/Beocenter systems and contemporaneous Beovision TVs.
• They are highly sought after in the vintage/used B&O market, both for their iconic aesthetics and as an “entry” BeoLab speaker compared to higher-end models.
