British brass nautical sextant in an original wooden case, dating from circa 1980–1990, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Beautiful brass sextant (brass nautical sextant) in its original wooden case (about 24 × 24 cm), a classic maritime navigation instrument for measuring celestial altitudes at sea. The instrument is richly detailed with:
- Gold/bronze brass frame and arc (distribution in degrees).
- Index arm with micrometer or vernier for precise reading.
- Multiple shade filters (index & horizon shades, colored glass for sun/moon).
- Telescope (binoculars) with extra lenses/filters in the case.
- Horizon mirror and index mirror intact.
The sextant fits perfectly in the lined wooden box (mahogany-like with brass hinges and clasps), which protects it from dust and damage. It is well-preserved with authentic patina on the brass (slight oxidation, typical vintage look).
Ideal for collectors of nautical items, maritime history, shipping antiques, or as a cool decorative piece in a maritime interior, office, or man cave. An eye-catching centerpiece with a real story—a symbol of adventure and navigation from the Age of Sail!
