Unique Italian metal hanging lamp with hand blown glass, 45 cm high, 44 cm wide, 44 cm deep, weighing 13 kg, dating from the 1960s–1970s, in good used condition with minor age-related marks and in working order.
Description from the seller
A unique piece of rare intensity. This pendant lamp is a true sculpture of light, likely made in Italy between the late 1970s and early 1980s, in keeping with the organic and Brutalist design spirit of the period.
The main body consists of a steel sheet, skillfully curved, from which bursts of hand-blown transparent and amber glass emerge. The glass fragments, irregular and sharp as ice blades, capture and multiply the light of the central bulb (E27, still original and incandescent), creating a dramatic effect of golden glow and shifting reflections. The contrast between the black metal’s hardness and the incandescent fragility of the glass generates a hypnotic charm: it looks like a black sun about to explode.
Mounted on an adjustable chain and ceiling canopy, it is perfectly balanced and stable despite its wild appearance.
Condition: Excellent to good vintage. With rust on the surface body. Glass intact, metal with slight signs of oxidation that enhance its lived-in character (not restored, preserved in its authenticity).
