Description from the seller
Very rare copy signed by Michael Kenna on the title page. 80 pages and 32 black-and-white photographs, text in English and Korean by Michael Kenna. Very beautiful hardcover binding with a white cloth-like finish and a mounted photograph (no dust jacket as issued). In excellent condition, practically like new.
This book was published on the occasion of an exhibition at the Kong Gallery in Seoul.
Over the years, I have tried, through my photographic work, to offer a kind of oasis, a place of rest, a moment to breathe, a space where one can find calm, even meditate. Most of my early works were made at dawn, and I still do so often. I have taken numerous photographs during these magical morning hours. I love the initial quiet in the cold air before the fluid transformation of the night that fades into a day dawning. Often, stretches of mist add to the scene, simplifying the background and, consequently, the whole image. I feel freshness and optimism in these early hours of the morning, after the sleep of the universe, a new day rises and new beginnings are offered to us.
