AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Porsche 968 3.0 16V Targa Coupé Tiptronic

GENERAL

The Porsche 968 is equipped with an evolved version of the well-known 944 four-cylinder inline engine. In the 968 this was increased to an impressive three-liter displacement, with a bore of 104 mm and a stroke of 88 mm. This made it at the time the largest four-cylinder production engine in the world.

This Porsche was delivered new in 1992 in the United States and spent the majority of its life there before being imported to the Netherlands in 2025. From the American period, a large number of invoices and maintenance receipts are available, which strongly underpin the history.

Interior

The interior is original and in good condition. The dashboard shows a few small hairline cracks along the top, which are to be expected for its age. The headlining is neat, though it is slightly loose in one corner.

The car is fitted with leather upholstery and features an electric, removable Targa roof that functions well. This makes open-top driving easy and carefree, with no issues with operation or sealing.

All electrical components are functioning properly. The interior gives a well-maintained and original impression.

Paintwork & Bodywork

The paintwork is in good condition and gives the car a fresh look. There are a few very small signs of wear, consistent with its age and mileage.

The car comes from Arizona, which means the body is rust-free — an important plus for this type of classic. Under the hood, everything looks very clean and well cared for.

technical

The car starts, drives, and shifts well. The Tiptronic automatic transmission functions as it should.

In the past years, there have been many technical updates. Recently, among other things, the timing belt and water pump have been replaced. In 2025, a new powertrain was installed valued at approximately $2,000.

The car sits on handsome original Cup wheels.

Attention point

The right exterior door handle isn’t functioning; it does open from the inside. The handle on the outside is defective.

Documentation

The car is delivered with:

– All original booklets
– A very comprehensive Carfax report
– USA Title
– Dutch import documents
– Provide proof that all import duties and taxes for Europe have been paid
– A folder with 33 years of history and invoices
– Original onboard tools

The Carfax shows a front bumper damage reported in 2013. This was handled at the time through the insurance, which is why the car received a salvage designation.

The vehicle has been fully imported and is administratively ready for registration.

OTHER

The car is currently being offered with an American title and has not yet been approved for use on public roads in the Netherlands or the EU.

We can, if desired, provide support for transport across Europe.

While we describe our vehicles as honestly and accurately as possible, it remains a used car. Minor signs of use or points to note can always be present. If you are seriously interested, we recommend viewing the car in person.

LOCATION

The Porsche is available for viewing and can be picked up in Damwoude, Netherlands.

Disclaimer

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
