Savonarola folding chair in walnut wood with a beech frame, made in Italy (Florence region), dating from the 1950s, with a height of 92 cm, width 68 cm and depth 50 cm, in good used condition with minor signs of wear and age.
Description from the seller
Elegant Savonarola chair with lion heads, by Florentine artists in walnut wood.
Made in Italy during the mid-20th century, specifically in the Loscana region.
The Savonarola chair is a folding chair, as compact as a book, consisting of serpentine, curved elements that cross in an X.
The term 'Savonarola' derives from the name of Girolamo Savonarola (1452–1498), to whose time the chair of this type would date, still preserved in his cell at the San Marco Monastery in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.
Overall in good condition, with normal signs of wear and aging (see photos). The backrest shows a longitudinal split that has been glued, which does not affect its functionality. The chair has been recently treated against woodworm.
The object will be shipped with a tracking code.
Note well: for all European islands including the Canaries, Malta, and Cyprus, as well as Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Israel, Iceland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, the shipping cost will be settled at the time of the auction.
