Description from the seller

Elegant Savonarola chair with Lion heads, by Florentine artists in walnut wood.
Made in the mid-20th century in Italy, specifically in the Tuscany region.
The Savonarola is a folding chair, collapsible like a book and composed of serpentine curved elements and cross-braced in an X.
The term "Savonarola" derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), during whose era the chair of this type would date, still preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.
In good overall condition, normal signs of wear and age (see photos), the backrest shows a longitudinal seam along its length, glued, which does not impair its functionality. The chair has recently been treated with an anti-termite treatment.
The item will be shipped with a tracking code.
Note: for all European islands including the Canary Islands, Malta and Cyprus, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Israel, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania the shipping cost will be agreed at the time of the lot’s auction.
