Cobalt-Calcite is a variety of Calcite named for its cobalt-rich composition. This stone is pink in its various shades. Also called cobalt calcite, also known as the Aphrodite stone, it is a rare variety of calcite that owes its name to cobalt impurities. Usually the amount of cobalt inside determines how pink the stone is. Most likely you will see this mineral in tiny drusy clusters on the matrix, although some areas in Europe have yielded material that can be cut and polished.
