Infrared Photography Techniques Part II

Ikko Kagari
Dynamic Sellers /1982/japanese/108*175*18

Infrared Photography PART II, a collection of works by Japanese photographers including Kagari Ikko. Kagari Ikko, described as a “secret photographer,” has kept his background details undisclosed. In the early 1980s, Kagari was given an infrared camera for a certain project, and the photos he took over the next six months were published as Document Commuter Train, attracting attention within the industry. This collection was also featured in The Photobook Vol. 3 by Martin Parr, a renowned photographer and photobook collector, attracting interest in his unique photography overseas. This book introduces Kagari's infrared photography techniques and includes text pages (written by Shunjiro Matsumoto), but most of the book consists of examples (photographs). Techniques are introduced for each indoor situation, such as “commuter trains,” “stairs,” and “movie theaters/planetariums.” This book allows readers to fully enjoy Kagari's techniques, including his outstanding depiction of shadows and unique compositions.
