Description from the seller
Travel Eucharistic receptacle (custode) on a stand — silver and gilded brass — France, 20th century
A rare Eucharistic receptacle intended for the transport and preservation of a consecrated host during pastoral visits.
The object consists of a circular silver custode that opens into two halves, adorned with a stylized cross engraved in a geometric design inspired by modernist liturgical aesthetics. The lid is surmounted by a trilobed cross that serves both as a handle and as an Eucharistic symbol.
The interior is gilded in gold in accordance with liturgical prescriptions.

The engraved decoration, sober and structured, is part of the aesthetic renewal of French religious goldsmithing in the mid-20th century.
