Description from the seller
Set of three silver jewelry sets – Saint James of Compostela motif – 19th century
A beautiful, cohesive set of three silver objects inspired by the iconography of Saint James of Compostela, recognizable by the pilgrim's shell, a major symbol of the Camino de Santiago.
The set includes:
• A pilgrim's brooch featuring a stylized shell, mounted on a long pin.
The reverse reveals a finely ribbed relief work, evoking the traditional insignia worn by the pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela.
• A bar brooch adorned with a hanging shell, accompanied by a small spherical bell suspended by a chain. This composition recalls the attributes of the pilgrim — a signaling sound, the act of travel, and protection — in a decorative interpretation typical of folk metalwork.
• A clasp / decorative chain-link element composed of two large chased silver shells connected by rings. The form features a stylized botanical motif and a beautiful depth of relief.
The three pieces display high-quality stamping and chasing work, with a homogeneous antique patina. Presence of visible hallmarks on at least one item (to be checked from the photos), suggesting European manufacture.
The aesthetic evokes memories of pilgrimages or symbolic jewelry that circulated between the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
Very satisfactory overall condition: light wear consistent with age, with no major deformation.
Photos are an integral part of the description of the items and complement their presentation.
They allow for appreciating its condition and features.
Please review them thoroughly prior to any commitment.
The item will be carefully packaged and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
Happy bidding!
