Description from the seller
David Hockney
Photographer
In this book, for the first time, about a hundred photographs are displayed and published among the around thirty thousand taken in the last twenty years by David Hockney. He has indeed agreed to exhibit them and appreciated the project to such an extent that he wanted to create works specifically for this purpose, assemblages of photographs that attest to his original approach to vision.
Beyond their intrinsic charm, these photographs – reference points in a personal diary where travels, studies, models and friends intertwine – are fascinating for what they reveal about the painter’s life and for the new light they cast on his work. With his characteristic immediacy and liveliness, David Hockney explains the role of photography in his painting and expresses a unique perspective on the relationship between painting and photography.
Hockney D.; Photographe. Hardcover, dust jacket, 22 x 31 cm, 126 pages, language French; Paris, Centre Georges Pompidou / Herscher, 1982.
The volume is in good overall condition. Dust jacket with slight signs of wear and some yellowing stains as shown in the photo. Binding solid. Interior pages clean without creases or notable stains. A good collectible copy.
