"Love, Forty Drawings" by Michael von Zichy, the famous erotic cycle of the court painter to Tsar Alexander II.
The first edition of this book dates from 1911.
This is the deluxe edition from Gala Verlag from 1966, limited to 600 copies; this copy is no. 445/600.
It is in good to very good condition, especially considering the book is already 60 years old.
The cover shows a number of normal signs of wear, especially on the corners. The inside of the book is very good, with a sturdy binding and nice pages (see the attached photos for a clearer picture).
Mihály Zichy (Zala, Somogy, 15 October 1827 – Saint Petersburg, 28 February 1906) was a Hungarian painter and illustrator. He spent a large part of his life as a painter at the court of successive Russian emperors. He was a prominent representative of Hungarian Romanticism. He is best known for his vivid allegorical and symbolic depictions and for his intimate portrayals of physical love. He also worked as a book illustrator.
