Description from the seller
Camera body: Olympus OM-2 (Black Paint)
Model: This is the famous Olympus OM-2 in its most sought-after version, the one with a black finish ("Black Paint"). Compared to the more common chrome version, the black version is highly valued by collectors and street photographers for its discretion.
Year: Produced from 1975.
Key Features:
It was the first camera in the world to introduce the TTL Direct (Off-The-Film) metering system: it measures the light reflected directly from the film during exposure. This guarantees absolute precision in long exposures (up to several minutes automatically!) and in flash control.
Aperture Priority (Automatic) or Manual.
Electronic shutter with speeds from 1s to 1/1000s + Bulb mode (in automatic mode it can extend the exposure times well beyond this, up to about 60–120 seconds in low light conditions).
Ultracompact dimensions, typical of the designer Yoshihisa Maitani's philosophy.
Lens: Olympus G.Zuiko Auto-S 50mm f/1.4
In the earlier photos (DSC_6308/6309) it is clear that the mounted lens isn’t the usual f/1.8, but the brighter and more prestigious 50mm f/1.4.
From the images you can see the front chrome ring (the so-called "silver nose"). This identifies the early production series (the 1970s), which used a single-coated anti-reflective coating (Single Coated).
Optical Rendering: This version is famous for its character: less contrasty than modern versions, it offers delicate pastel colors and soft bokeh, much loved for portraits and for achieving that authentic 'vintage look' that modern lenses cannot replicate.
Diagram: "G.Zuiko" indicates 7 optical elements (G is the seventh letter of the alphabet).
Accessories Included
Ready Case: The camera comes with its original brown leather case with the Olympus logo embossed, split into two parts (muzzle and end), which appears to be in excellent condition.
Shoulder strap: There is a vintage leather shoulder strap, consistent with the era of the machine
