French antique marble double inkwell from circa 1900–1930, green-veined marble on a rectangular base with two integrated square inkwells; in fair condition with minor edge chips and non-original glass reservoirs.
Description from the seller
Early 20th Century French Marble Double Inkwell – Green Veined Stone Desk Set
An elegant French marble double inkwell dating from the early 20th century, embodying the refined taste and solid craftsmanship of traditional desk accessories. This decorative yet functional piece reflects the prestige once associated with handwritten correspondence and executive office décor.
Carved from richly veined green marble, the rectangular base supports two integrated square inkwells with matching marble lids. The natural stone features striking white and light green veining, giving each surface depth and character. The weight and density of the marble highlight its quality and durability, while the clean, architectural lines evoke classical French design.
Origin: France, early 20th century.
Dimensions: 28 cm (11.02 inches) length × 16 cm (6.30 inches) depth × 8.5 cm (3.35 inches) height.
Condition: small chips consistent with age and use are visible, particularly along the edges. The glass reservoirs are replacements; they are not original to the piece and are not perfectly fitted to the openings. This does not detract from the overall decorative appeal.
A charming and authentic antique desk accessory, ideal for collectors of French decorative arts, marble objects, or period writing instruments.
