Leerdam

18 cm
Insured shipping with DHL

Bernard Heesen, born in 1958 in Leerdam, studied architecture at the Delft University of Technology from 1977 to 1984 after completing his gymnasium education.

During his studies he had already worked in his father Willem Heesen's glass studio and learned glassblowing autodidactically. Around 1986 he created his first own glass pieces at the glassblowing workshop De Oude Horn in Acquoy.
Artists' Journey
After completing his studies, he chose glassblowing over architecture, where he plays with the boundaries between art and kitsch in colorful, abstract objects. His work is included in collections such as the Stedelijk Museum, and he resumed production in 2022 after a hiatus.

During a certain period, Heesen signed his works with Jes; he made this work with an employee from his studio.
