Description from the seller
60s ESSO vintage plexiglass sign with thermoformed letters
Magnificent original ESSO sign dating from the 1960s, a true piece of industrial archaeology with strong visual impact for both display and collection. Made of translucent plexiglass, it features the iconic red ESSO letters enclosed in the classic blue oval, both in solid relief with a substantial thickness of about 1 cm, a rare detail that adds depth, three-dimensionality, and extraordinary visual presence.
The craftsmanship is the traditional technique called “thermoforming”: the letters are not simply applied, but molded directly into the material with heat, creating soft, bulged surfaces perfectly integrated into the structure. This technique, now virtually vanished, is typical of mid-20th-century professional signs and gives the object an even greater historical value.
The whole piece is harmonious and elegant, with the milky white background highlighting the vivid colors of the logo, still remarkably bright after decades. The translucent plexiglass allows, with minimal effort, to easily transform the sign into a splendid illuminated sign: just place a light source on the back to obtain an authentically vintage dramatic effect that recreates the atmosphere of old service stations.
Perfect for furnishing lofts, prestigious garages, showrooms, themed venues, or private collections, it is a decorative object of great charm, immediately placeable and ready to become the absolute centerpiece of any space. A true symbol of automotive culture and postwar advertising design, very, very beautiful, with a bold character and a presence that does not go unnoticed.
Please examine the photos carefully as they are an integral part of the item description. Fast shipping with tracking code and careful packaging.
