Description from the seller

Three Dogon pendants

These pendants were strung on a cotton band and tied around the waist by women during dance performances. Sometimes there were more than thirty on one belt. Sometimes they could also be worn as pendants. But not really as finger rings what they are often said to be. Cast in a copper alloy using the lost wax method by the Dogon of the Bandiagara cliff in the late 19th century, with a lovely patina.

On the first picture
Bottom left: 5,0×2,7×1,3 cm, 23,5 gram
Top: 5,1×2,9×1,1 cm, 25,4 gram
Bottom right: 4,8×2,8×1,1 cm, 19,4 gram

Provenance:
Private collection, Germany
