Description from the seller
Vintage Oriental Hand-Knotted Carpet Runner – circa 1920
A beautiful early 20th-century oriental carpet runner, traditionally hand-knotted and dating approximately to the 1920s. The piece features a repeating geometric tribal motif typical of Central Asian and Turkmen design traditions, with a warm beige field decorated by stylised tree-like and symbolic elements in deep blue, burgundy and earthy tones.
The borders are richly patterned with classic ornamental bands that frame the central composition and enhance its antique character. The natural colour palette and aged patina give the carpet an authentic vintage presence, suitable for both traditional and modern interiors.
The runner is made with a dense pile and a textile foundation, finished with fringes at both ends. The pattern remains clearly visible and well preserved, showing only normal signs of age and use consistent with an antique textile of this period.
Period: circa 1920
Technique: Hand-knotted (traditional workmanship)
Origin: Oriental region (tribal design influence)
Material: Wool pile on textile foundation
Dimensions: approx. 112 × 200 cm
Condition: Good overall vintage condition, with visible wear to fringes and minor signs of age consistent with use.
This decorative and collectible antique runner is ideal for hallways or narrow spaces and brings warmth, history, and character to any interior.
