Native gold nugget specimen with quartz matrix from Guelb Ndour Tiris Zemmour, Mauritania; weight 0.61 g.
Description from the seller
Discovery zone
23°33’ North
08°06’ West
The gold and the white quartz of this specimen are harmoniously intergrown.
This specimen originates from the desert region of Tiris Zemmour in northern Mauritania, about a hundred kilometers from an area called Guelb Ndour.
Gold mining in this country was reserved only for a large industrial company.
But since 2016, individual exploitation has been authorized through the use of metal detectors.
Since 2019, a few individuals have begun primary gold exploration by digging wells.
I run a travel agency and act as a guide for Saharan expeditions in Mauritania, and I am passionate about gold prospecting.
It was during prospecting in 2020 in the Mauritanian desert, while scouting with a view to offering gold-detecting tourist trips, that I was able to obtain this specimen.
I propose it as it was discovered; I have only cleaned it with soapy water.
The matrix of this specimen is quartz, and the gold weight percentage is very high.
The gold from this region is quite pure; generally, its purity ranges from 950 to 980 thousandths, which corresponds to 22.80 to 23.50 carats.
All the photos are taken in natural daylight.
I photographed this specimen as faithfully and precisely as possible using daylight.
Please note that differences in screen settings and ambient lighting may result in variations in perceived color, saturation, and tones.
The specimen you will receive is, of course, the one in the photos.
Worldwide shipping
I send a secure and discreet quick shipment in a tamper-proof C5 envelope (162mm x 229mm) via French La Poste registered mail with tracking number.
I will send you this tracking number immediately after sending it through Catawiki's messaging system.
