Description from the seller

A letter cabinet that was used in printing houses to organize lead type and other typographic characters.
Each letter had its own compartment, allowing the printer to quickly assemble words and sentences.
The individual drawers have dozens of small compartments that are unevenly distributed.

The letter case (or drawer), as it was used in traditional printing, was produced and used from the 15th to the 20th century.
Printing with movable type was invented around 1440 by Johannes Gutenberg.
This method remained the standard until the rise of offset printing and digital typesetting methods in the second half of the 20th century (around 1980).

Typically made from natural wood, often with visible signs of heavy use, which contributes to the nostalgic appearance.
