A votive Celtic head in limestone.
Sculpture, full-round, featuring a large man's head,
A clean, streamlined face, almond-shaped eyes in bas-relief, the scaphoid nose in a broad flattened rectangle, and the mouth in slight relief.
Dimensions: height 19.5 cm - width 14.8 cm - weight 4.6 kg
Trace of an old mounting at the rear
Dating: 2nd century BC – 1st century AD.
From a collection assembled on the British art market from various auction houses and collections, mainly before 2000.
From a prestigious estate in Cambridgeshire; passed down through the generations.
