Art Nouveau gilded brass and bronze tray dating from 1850–1900, of French origin, with a warm patina and dimensions 9 cm high, 19 cm wide, and 12 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Superb Art Nouveau gilt brass trinket tray – Floral & asymmetrical motifs – Circa 1900
an elegant valet tray (or desk tray / valet tray) in pure Art Nouveau style, probably French or European, dating from the early 20th century (circa 1895-1910).
Made of brass (or light bronze) with a warm and bright golden patina, this piece is appealing for its fluid and organic design typical of the Belle Époque:
A very distinctive asymmetrical shape, with sinuous volutes and elegant organic curves.
Central bas-relief decoration of a stylized floral corolla, topped by a hexagonal dome adorned with pearls and a finely chiselled knop.
Openwork borders and repeated four-petal flower motifs, lending lightness and refinement.
Original golden patina, well-preserved, with beautiful antique hues and a silky finish.
Ideal format for a desk, a vanity, or a display case.
Important: No deep central reservoir. Perfect as a jewelry tray, an entryway catchall, or simply a decorative collectible item.
Condition: very good for its age – even patina, no major dents or cracks visible, slight wear from normal use on the raised areas (see photos). No signature visible on the back or underside.
A fine example of authentic Art Nouveau, with graceful, poetic lines, that will remind one of the work of masters such as Marionnet, Bouny, or the anonymous high-quality productions of the era.
Ideal for lovers of Art Nouveau, 1900 decorative bronzes, and organic/floral pieces.
Bid without restraint on this little jewel of the Belle Époque!
