Louis XV style wooden coffee table, made in France, dating from 1850–1900 and weighing about 18 kg.
Description from the seller
Louis XV-style coffee table – marquetry – France, late 19th century
Description
Elegant Louis XV-style coffee table, made in France at the end of the 19th century, perfectly illustrating the revival of historical styles that is characteristic of the late Second Empire / Belle Époque period.
It rests on four cabriole legs, ending in carved scrolls. The belt is finely contoured and emphasizes the sinuous lines typical of the Rocaille vocabulary.
The rectangular tabletop features a wood veneer laid in a frieze pattern, forming a balanced decorative motif, framed by a peripheral moulding. The warm, even patina bears witness to its age and authenticity.
