Description from the seller
Antique Louis Philippe Balloon-back Chair – 19th Century
Offered is an elegant antique occasional chair in the classic Louis Philippe style, dating from the second half of the 19th century.
The chair is crafted from warm wood (probably mahogany or walnut) and is in a beautiful vintage condition.
This specific model is known for its distinctive balloon back, a smoothly curved backrest that is typical of the Romantic interior style of that period. The subtly carved intermediate rail in the back gives the piece a refined appearance.
The chair rests on graceful cabriole legs at the front, a testament to craftsmanship and attention to detail.
The seat is upholstered in a neutral, gold-colored fabric that fits most interiors, but the chair is also well suited for a reupholstery project to suit your taste.

Period: circa 1860-1880
Material: Solid wood (mahogany/walnut)
Features: Balloon back, cabriole legs, button-tufted/upholstered seat
Condition: Good antique condition with light signs of wear appropriate to age. The construction is sturdy.
